IMPACT INITIATIVES

In 2019, desiring to do more to help residents and employees of Renewing Management to thrive, the non-profit foundation Renewing Communities was formed. Now the foundation helps people cultivate relationships, activate their gifts and abilities and celebrate the differences and beauty in each person. Working together with residents, employees and neighbors, Renewing Communities leverages creative, grass-roots ideas for community betterment. “We want to empower people to engage in something worthwhile,” says Executive Director Melissa Gammon.

The story of P30 began when the Renewing Management headquarters moved into the large factory at the corner of Post and 30th St. on the Far Eastside of Indianapolis, home to sister company, Volumod. The square footage of the property was greater than needed, and we began to explore ways that the spare space could be used to benefit the community. A coworking and office space, community hub, coffee shop and entrepreneurial incubator named P30 was born, bringing hope to a historically overlooked neighborhood of Indianapolis.

Partnering with the Community Care Network, Renewing Management designates Community Builders onsite in each apartment community to welcome new residents, plan events and connect neighbors. Whether offering student tutoring, game night, gardening party, a Bible study or even something simple like pizza or a snow cone, the community builders plan both social and spiritual activities. Renewing is constructing raised gardens at all our communities with space for vegetables, herbs or flowers. Many comment on the benefits of caring for a garden even while living in an apartment. The Gardens allow residents who might not ordinarily interact to help each another, watch plants grow and form relationships across racial, economic or cultural lines. Renewing Management believes in second chances! We hire out of incarceration and actively support the Second Chance program of our sister company, Volumod. This program helps returning citizens find new life after incarceration or addiction by giving participants a job, new work abilities, life skills and one-on-one mentoring. In addition to learning skills in the construction trades, participants focus on character development. Through this program, many have broken generational cycles of poverty, addiction and incarceration.

In 2019 Renewing helped to launch Nexus Impact Center on the Northwest side of Indianapolis and moved headquarters to that building. The Nexus Impact Center unites, inspires, and resources people to cultivate impact-driven business models. Partnering with other impact-minded businesses, Nexus helps resource businesses (like Renewing Management) to merge for-profit business and social impact. Rapid growth facilitated needing more office space, and in 2021 Renewing moved to its new headquarters on the Far Eastside of Indianapolis where we are replicating the Nexus model at P30.

Addiction & Recovery Centers

Real impact happens with transformed lives. Rebuilt in Bloomfield, Indiana is a nine-month intensive rehabilitation program focused on rescuing people from the clutches of addiction. The Christ-centered addiction recovery center helps restore dignity, life purpose and hope in broken lives. After graduation, participants can secure employment at ReJavanated, a coffee shop and community hub in Bloomfield.
